Update: Just A Few Items

We went back to the hospital last night to see Elias. His nurse, Melanie told us that not much had changed from earlier in the day. They did get his Oxygen level back down to 21%, It had been 35 that morning after his little episode. He has nothing scheduled today except a few chest x-rays, which they do at his bedside. That is just to keep an eye on the trachea and lung to determine why he crashed off the ventilator. He was awake again, but obviously tired. We got to see a few cute little yawns before he drifted off to sleep. We sat there for about 45 min just watching him sleep. Katharine got a little teary eyed, she just wants to hold her son. I think with everything that is going on that is the one thing that is hardest. Touching him is wonderful, but not the same. They are hoping to start feeding him the breast milk we are storing possibly by the weekend via a feeding tube. I think that will make him stronger very fast. We have left a journal by his bedside station and the nurses have been writing in it for us. It is so cute because they all write in it as if it were Elias doing it! That is a very nice gesture. Another bit of good news to share is that the lipids they are giving him for nutrients seem to be working. He has gained a little weight, he is now 4 lbs 1 & 3/4 oz.

We are getting ready to go back to the hospital. We got a few more pictures that we will work on getting up tonight. Thanks again for all the prayers & thoughts.
