Still Improving

Elias is still making great progress. Even though he is still fairly heavily sedated, his personality was showing through, and with that we know he is doing better. He had a very quiet day, with only a few minor episodes. Uncle Mac & Cheryl came by to visit us! It was such a great surprise. Elias loves visitors, even when he is recovering. We had a wonderful visit...Thanks for coming by! Elias' nurse for tonight is also a Disney fanatic like we are. We talked for a while about trips, parks, restaurants, etc. While we were talking we looked down at Elias and he was smiling the biggest smile. I think he was enjoying hearing about Disney World! Overall today he looked a lot more comfortable. As we stated before, he was cracking smiles here and there. He tolerated his cares and suctioning of his trach tube very well, he was even behaving when they placed two new IVs. We were very pleased. They started feeding him pedialyte through his G-tube, 5 mls per hour. He seemed to be tolerating it well. They will gradually increase the volume and then switch to breast milk. We are still keeping a cautious eye on his potential reflux, but have been pleased so far with the results. After spending the day up there we feel very comfortable with his improvements and can say confidently our little fighter is winning this battle after all!
