Oh I'm Sorry, But We Thought Elias Was The Only Super Hero Here

I apologize in advance for the lack of coherency in this update. It has been a very long and tiring day. In order to preserve my sanity I will present the update on this issue in the form of a humorous story. Without going into great detail and what will inevitably become a rant, we feel as though we have the situation handled. Long story shortened, the G-Tube began to leak large amounts of fluids including his medicine on two separate occasions yesterday. They thought it was fixed but resumed again a few hours later, unfortunately after the day shift was gone. It took three hours for anyone from Ped Surgery to come in. After sending the lowest resident on the totem pole, who came in and revealed his secret identity as the super hero Captain Obvious, he made the observation that it was indeed leaking. Apparently, super heroes must have a side kick in order to defeat evil. Captain Obvious seemed to have left his and told us he would have to go get him (the chief resident). We waited for the dynamic duo to return, but were disappointed. We went home and called back to the NICU a few hours later to see what progress had been made. Still no sign of the dynamic duo, although I really shouldn't disgrace Batman & Robin like this. In the spirit of bilingual language we will call them dos idiotas. I think the translation is pretty obvious. The NICU team contacts the secret lair of dos idiotas hoping they will come save the day. They offer profound wisdom instead...the nurse wrote the quote down verbatim on Elias flow sheet. It was discussed and the chief decided not to come by because "It has been leaking."

OMG IDK my BFF in the NICU is being taken care of by ASS-es ( I really should write political satire shouldn't I?). Timeout for a minute, Elias is being cared for wonderfully, we stress that again. It is just that Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane (if you watched the show you'll get it, if not well sorry.) seem to always be in charge on nights and weekends when there is a problem. OK Time-in!! Fast forward to 10 am this morning. The NICU team overnight made a decision with out the aid of the young superheroes and took care of the issue, just an FYI kids there is a little super hero in us all. We talked direct with our surgeon today and when he said he was going to be on vacation next week I unleashed my feelings. We explained how when he is not there things do not get done with Elias. They should have come down last night simply because 1/2 of the dos idiotas said he'd return. It was the principal of the matter. If they felt so strongly that it did not require a visit, and his super powers rendered powerless then he should just pick up the phone and call the NICU doctors to tell them that. This way when the big bad parents call and ask they don't have to say I don't know!! The conversation, which I'm happy to report that I remained very collected to my surprise, ended with our surgeon giving us his personal cell phone number if we have any problems why he is gone and his assurance that he would address this with the Ped Surgery team....again! I think we have seen the last of dos idiotas!!!
************This ends my ranting. Now back to the real story************
Elias was feeling much better as you will see in the photos we have to put up. I'm too tired to edit tonight, but will do so first thing on the morning. We had a wonderful day, interacting, playing, smiling, laughing, being held by both Mommy & Daddy (several times no doubt) and getting his big boy crib back!! The leakage in the G-tube has stopped again, as we hold our breath and hope for the best. He is showing signs of recovering from the MRSA infection and getting back to his old self. We had a wonderful time do everything and Elias was very sleepy when we left. So today we felt as though we accomplished getting our frustrations heard and action taken, again. Also, a very rich day for Mommy, Daddy & Elias.

Hasta La Bye-Bye
