New G-Tube

This afternoon they decided to try a new G-tube, in the hopes the one that has been in might be defective. This is hopefully the answer to the leakage problems. It was a very simple procedure that was done at the bedside, while Elias slept right through it we might add, using the existing stoma. So we will find out quickly if it is a positional issue or not. They also left the old G-tube in a specimen cup by his bed to test if there was a leak in the balloon on if there is any other defect we can notice over the next few days. If this does not work then it is likely that they will do something while Elias is in the OR next week for the dilation.

We had a great afternoon playing with Elias. He was very tired by the time we were through with playtime, bath time, and the trach change. Apparently, Elias is become quite the ladies man and a little flirt. His nurse today had a nursing student doing observation and he was looking at her the entire time whenever they were in the room. This is not the first time we have heard about this. He did the same to the Orthopedic resident when she came in with the orthopedic surgeon many weeks ago. Of course it is not uncommon for 3 or 4 nurses to be interacting with him at times. He LOVES the attention, what a little ham!!
