Elias Doing Better

Elias was looking much better yesterday and he was acting a little more like himself. You could tell he was still a little under but there has been some great improvement. His breathing is much more consistent and he is not laboring nearly as much. Now he just needs to get caught up on his sleep and finish getting 100%. By the end of the weekend we hope to have him fully recovered.

The private duty nurse supervisor came out yesterday to meet with us and Elias. She thought he was the most adorable little thing. We got a good feeling about our decision to use this agency. They are a smaller agency, but very particular and organized. They have great protocol for everything from time sheets to emergencies. We will begin Interviewing nurses early next week.

As for the medical assistance number, well, we found out what was taking so long. The brilliant minds at the state again bumbled the assignment. They originally worked the case from Elias date of birth, even though we specifically documented on the application it was assistance needed going forward, not retro. Because of that we were over the income requirements. So they had to "spend down" and rework the case. We got a phone call yesterday telling us the new number was assigned, but of course not online. It would be next week sometime before that is expected to happen. It is funny because the hospital is still proceeding as though we are going home on the 7th, but we know for certain there will be no nursing available. The private nursing agency told us they might be able to work the 9th in, but again it is highly unlikely. So while no one has officially said it at the hospital, we strongly feel it will be the 14th now. There is still so much to be done at the hospital even for the 9th to be realistic and too many outside influences hindering the process. We are OK with this because we knew better than to get our hopes up too high. For now we are just glad that our little munchkin is feeling better and has improved over the last few days.
