This morning the report from Elias' nurse was very good. He had a restful night and so far a good morning. He is tolerating the feeds well and they are going up to 4cc this afternoon. His vent settings are now down to room air and the plan is to increase the feeds aggressively the next 48 hours to ensure toleration. If his vent settings do not need to be changed during this time they want to extubate on Sunday.
The doctor thinks that last weeks episode was due to the indomethacin for his PDA. This makes a lot of sense, especially with the side effects the medicine can cause. As we have said before, there were so many things happening at the time of the episode it was so difficult to isolate the cause. This is all very positive news and we will certainly embrace it with pleasure.
