Yesterday Elias went for a trip down to the OR for placement of a central line. This serves the same purpose as the PIC line but placed in the neck and run through the veins and out his chest. He tolerated the surgery well, but again was a little agitated and uncomfortable. It has been rough seeing him this way. Sometimes it's hard to hold back the tears, but we remind ourselves that he is being cared for by amazing people that are so compassionate and understanding. That is really the reason we do not have any more pictures or video to share. He also is showing signs of just wanting to be held, and of course we are aching to do so...especially mom. Today he was scheduled for a brain ultrasound, those usually happen early in the morning (around 3 am) so we should hear back from that tomorrow. Other than that this weekend again will be rest and recovery for him. Depending on his progress the doctors want to test his esophagus on Monday or Tuesday with feeding hopefully to start mid-week. He has had minimal drainage from his chest tube (chylothorax), which is good....potentially. That is a wait and see as the doctors put it. Several people have called us to check in and say hello. We really appreciate the communication, It provides a mental break and sometimes it is just nice to talk to someone other than a medical professional.
Thank you all again for your thoughts, prayers, & wishes!
