More of the same

The next few days will be rather slow in terms of progress. They are basically at a stand still to let Elias' trachea heal so they can extubate again. Yesterday the nurses dressed him and had him swaddled. He really enjoyed that. He was so restful and calm. It was very nice to see. Katharine got to hold him for a few minutes again today. Unfortunately, they came to draw blood when it was daddy's turn. It really is a complex process to hold him with the vent, having to move everything, disconnecting him temporarily from the machine, & basically disturbing him. He can get rather cranky during the set-up, but he quickly realizes what is happening and calms down. With all that and the morning he had, dad was content to let him sleep. There will be many other days for that. We hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Maybe we will get lucky and be able to take some pictures and video for everyone today.
