Elias continues to rest well. He seems to have recovered from his busy day yesterday. There has been some discussion about the next step, but no consensus has been reached. It might be a few days before they really have an idea. As we said before, this is now uncharted territory so it is a true test of the minds. As one of the surgeons put during rounds yesterday, "Elias is a unique baby that presents very unique challenges on a daily basis." We all got a good laugh out of that comment because it is so true.
Orthopedics came in for a consult, but no report has been made yet. They have changed the type of breathing treatment he is getting to a different type of medicine, discontinuing the albuterol. His nurse this morning said it seems as though the attending NICU doctor is on a mission. He is anxious to move forward and seems to be pushing to make sure things get done. I think they have finally reached the same level of frustration that we have. We hope to hear on when the family meeting will be today. That should really help get the ball moving.
Thank you for the update. I was thinking about you all day yesterday. You are in my and my husband's thoughts and prayers.
