Elias is doing better now, he is just a little tired from all the activity the last day and a half. The G-Tube site was much better, even back on full feeding volume. So the changes they made seemed to work, at least for now. They were able to get another IV so he did not have to get a surgical line, but he needs the access to stay open for 10-14 more days to complete the antibiotics. They will probably try another IV again if they lose this one before jumping to the line, they really want to avoid that. Otherwise, it was a much more pleasant day for Elias.
On Monday we meet with the powers that be to discuss the fiasco from Friday. We are certainly more level headed, and collected, but still very spirited. We appreciate all the thoughts and comments on this topic. We got quite a response with phone calls and several emails. We do want to assure everyone that in spite of the problems we have had, Elias is still very well cared for. There is certainly no cause to be alarmed or concerned that he is not in the best hands. We know everyone worries, and rightfully so, but he is still in the best place he could be at the moment. The problems are all communication and not execution and we will address it to the proper hospital personnel so that it does not continue. Thank you all again for everything.
WTH?????? I just got so enraged and upset reading about the weekend. Thank god you were there when you were, and that someone finally listened to you! I hate that feeling of no one listening but you absolutely knowing something is wrong. Give Elias a kiss from me. Hugs to you two, too.
