Evening Update

Elias was well this evening, but still a little tired from all the action of blood drawing and IVs. Katharine changed the collar that holds his Trach in place today. That is the easy part of the process, so starting with that makes sense. She did very well while the Respiratory Therapist walked her through the process and held his trach in place. It is a two person job to change. One to hold the other to do. She also learned and executed suctioning his trach. She was excited and did a very good job. Of course, when it was done Elias gave her his best boo-boo lip and saddest eyes. Almost as if to say, you're not suppose to do those things to me. We all got a chuckle out of it and Elias quickly smiled. He spent the next 45 minutes looking around at us and laughing and smiling away. That certainly helped us to feel even better about how he was doing. The G-Tube site was also doing well today. All in all a good day and productive in the learning department. Michael gets his turn changing the collar tomorrow or Tuesday, if he feels comfortable enough.
