Glad everyone enjoyed the photos...isn't he just adorable? The weekend was quiet and Elias had very little leakage from the G-tube. The doctors are still monitoring his weight closely and have increased his calories to 28 still on continuous feeds. One question we are planning on asking today is in reference to compressed feeds. Are they going to attempt this again prior to deeming him medically ready? It has been defined that he can come home on the continuous feeds, but it is not ideal and very difficult for us to manage.
Tomorrow morning is our meeting with the Medical Assistance team for the REM program application. Michael spoke with a nursing agency today that might fit Elias needs. Some of the agencies we have called have been rather interesting experiences, leaving a lot to be desired. Hopefully this one will prove to be a winner and we can check that off the list and turn the focus back on Elias.
Still no time frame on when Elias will be ready for discharge, which will hopefully mean straight home and not another hospital. We try not to think about it too much. We do not want to set ourselves up for disappointment by getting too excited too soon. The adjustment home is not going to be an easy one, but at least we will have Elias by our side without having to venture into the city.
