Colostomy; A Concerning Find

Last night while changing Elias colostomy bag, we noticed something on his stoma. It was clear and looked like some kindColostomy Bear of nodule or lump that is very hard to the touch. It is a tad bit concerning. We called this morning to the FA clinic they feel like it is something that needs to be seen as sooner rather than later! Of course since it is the colostomy it is the part of the body that none of his doctors feel fall in their management field. So the FA nurse coordinator made a few phone calls to “push the issue” and it has been determined that Colorectal over GI should look at this. She informed them this needed to be seen very soon and not weeks from now. So know we are waiting to hear from Colorectal on when they can see us. They have not always been the most reliable with communication in the past so we hope this doesn’t turn into a frustrating event. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing or something very simple. We are also doing a culture for C-diff tomorrow as we suspect that this might be flaring up again. Potentially they are related? We will keep you posted as things develop.
